Slam Dunk Festival is set to takes place this weekend at Birmingham’s NEC (27th May), Leeds City Centre (28th May) and Hatfield’s Forum on Bank Holiday Monday. Following the Manchester attack earlier this week, the festival has reassured fans that it will still go ahead and that their team are working to ensure that the event will be safe for everyone attending.
Enter Shikari will be headlining the Jägermeister Stage as they set to celebrate 10 years of album Take To The Skies. The band recently recorded a song with grime artist Big Narstie titled Supercharge and you can check out that below!
Also on the stage is the likes on Don Broco, Deaf Havana, Beartooth, Bury Tomorrow, We Are The Ocean and more! If it’s more of a chilled out vibe you are looking for then look no further than the Fireball Stage with Bowling For Soup headlining. The band recently released a acoustic version of Punk Rock 101.
The stage will host a full day of ska and classic pop punk bands, and Bowling For Soup will have the honour of closing the stage however the likes of Less Than Jake and Reel Big Fish will certainly start the party at Slam Dunk.
Moving on to the Monster Energy Stage and Welsh Pop Punk outfit Neck Deep, who have been taking the world of music to storm as of late, will be headlining the stage. Ben Barlow and the band recently revealed details of their upcoming album The Peace and the Panic and recently released two new songs titled Where Do We Go When We Go and Happy Judgement Day. Check them both out below along with other releases from the band.
Also playing on the stage is The Movielife, We The Kings, The Maine and more! One to look out for certainly Liverpool pop punk band Wstr who have beginning to rise throughout the pop punk scene and will play songs from their latest album Red, Green or Inbetween.
The highlights on the The Key Club stage are Tonight Alive, Set It Off as well as With Confidence. Boston Manor, who are playing a couple of intimate shows with fellow Slam Dunk band Casey this week are also on the line up. The Signature Brew Stage will see former My Chemical Romance man Frank Iero with his band Frank Iero and The Patience while The Bronx and Against Me! will be the final two acts at that stage.
I Prevail will finally be playing in the UK as they will be playing a set on the Impericon Stage and they will be bringing their latest album Lifelines and among their earlier stuff to Slam Dunk Festival. I think a lot of fans would be hoping they will play this cover…
Memphis May Fire will be headlining the stage Shvpes, Ice Nine Kills, Oceans Ate Alaska and more are set to bring more hardcore and metal element to the three days. Area 11 will be headlining the Rocksound Breakthrough stage alongside Casey, Vukovi, The Gospel Youth and more. The Uprawr Stage will see DJs playing throughout the night as well as Grumble Bee, The Lion and The Wolf and more.
In many ways there is bands for everyone at Slam Dunk this year, so if you’re lucky enough to have tickets, make sure you savour every last minute of what looks to be the best year yet.
