With Bowling For Soup’s eagerly awaited headline slot on The Fireball Stage at this years’ Slam Dunk Festival now just a few days away, it seemed like the perfect time for the band to release a new single. With it being festival season, and with Slam Dunk’s Fireball Stage being a collection of classic pop punk and ska bands, it seemed right that the new single is a new twist on an old favourite.
Taken from Bowling For Soup’s recent critically and fan acclaimed acoustic live CD/DVD, Acoustic In A Freakin’ English Church, the acoustic version of Punk Rock 101 is a brand new way to enjoy one of Bowling For Soup’s biggest hit singles and staples from their live sets.
If there’s one thing Bowling For Soup, and their fans, both enjoy, it’s a good party. So the band are thrilled to be headlining the new Fireball Stage at the Slam Dunk Festival 2017 triple header in Leeds, Birmingham and Hatfield. The Fireball Stage will host a full day of ska and classic pop punk bands, and Bowling For Soup will have the honour of closing the stage.
Appearing alongside Bowling For Soup on The Fireball Stage is a collection of ska royalty in the shape of Less Than Jake, Reel Big Fish, Goldfinger and Mad Caddies, not to mention Zebrahead’s high energy unique flavour of pop punk. Rounding things off will be The Ataris and Fenix TX. The stage will also be compered by longtime friend and collaborator of Bowling For Soup, MC Lars, while another friend of the band, Matt Stocks, will be DJ’ing between bands.
Headlining The Fireball Stage at Slam Dunk will top what has been a fantastic last eighteen months for Bowling For Soup with many notable achievements. This time last year they embarked on the “How About Another Round Tour” in the UK, which sold out almost every night and saw the band play to almost 30,000 people alongside their friends in The Dollyrots and Lacey. They were back to wow UK audiences again in October as special guests on Steel Panthers’ arena tour, something which was swiftly followed by the release of their hugely popular new album Drunk Dynasty. The year was capped off by the release of Bowling For Soup’s first official live acoustic CD and DVD, Live In A Freakin’ English Church, recorded right here in the UK at London’s majestic Union Chapel.
