Late last year, Berkshire indie/emo/math outfit Redwood released their sophomore EP Blood Moon. The record itself swells in and out of post-rock sensibilities whilst leaning very heavily on the mid-west emo sound. The record is a phenomenal example of how to incorporate influences from bands like Turnover to Bombay Bicycle Club and From Indian Lakes whilst making the record very individual and unique.
Redwood have never shied away from talking about sensitive topics, from talking about Toby’s multiple sclerosis to now talking about domestic violence in their new song Night Garden. On the surface Night Garden sounds like a very lush and positive song. With punishingly righteous guitar sounds and beautiful vocal harmonies, Night Garden perfectly demonstrates a level of coyness within it’s writing.
Blood Moon is set for a 140g 12″ vinyl release through DIY label Blindreader Records early July. Limited to 300 copies and featuring two new bonus tracks Night Garden and Aster as well as a fold out A3 lyric sheet.
