Bristolian post-hardcore quartet Everyday Sidekicks are set to release their forthcoming EP Hope on 31st March.

Recorded at Monnow Valley Studios with Tom Manning, the band feel Hope is a huge jump from prior EP The Things I’ve Seen, the release of which led to them sharing the stage with the likes of Marmozets, Slaves (UK) and Coldrain. Thematically the band are attempting to avoid becoming ‘a one trick pony’ and so keep things diverse, with Hope spanning topics from heartbreak to the state of the world. You can check out Fracture, from the release, below!

We managed to catch up with vocalist Archie Hatfield as he talked about the latest single, upcoming EP, new tour and more!

So how has the release of Fracture gone down so far?

Fracture was always going to be an interesting release for us, it showcased our new heavier style really well and we wanted to try and get people up to date with how we are changing. luckily for us “Fracture” was received with open arms by everyone which was really great for me and the guys to hear as it was always a good indicator of how the rest of the EP was going to go down!

How pumped are you for the release of ‘Hope’?

Honestly we can’t wait to finally release “HOPE”, we have been sat on some of these tracks for a year now which has been slightly frustrating for us, but seeing all the songs come together and finally having the full length EP in our hands really showed us that patience is a good thing. we took a lot more time writing the songs and tweaking them to make them the best they can be. this EP is unquestionably our strongest material to date and we find the more we write the more comfortable with our music were becoming.

Can you tell us about the release-

This release has been a long time coming for us. We’ve been sat on this material for a while which has caused us some frustration but now that it’s finally all in motion it’s such a relief for us! We can start playing the songs live and really work on pushing the songs as far as we can!

Would you say you have a lot of freedom with it being a self release?

Self releasing “HOPE” definitely has its upsides. we have complete control over everything and it means we can push it back or bring it forward as much as we want which is always nice to have. Another major perk is that there is no time limit for the release, so we could really take our time getting all the little things sorted if we weren’t happy with them.

Are you looking to go on tour any time soon?

We have a tour currently booked for the start of April but we can’t announce anything yet as it hasn’t been released to the public, we definitely want to tour as much as possible in the future to make sure that we gain as many new fans in as many cities as possible! plus its always nice to get away for a while with your bros and hit the road, all the best moments in a band happen when you’re touring.

How much does your fans mean to you guys?

Our fans mean the world to us, without them we wouldn’t be going today! there continuos support through the past few years makes everything we do worth it for sure and we will always strive to be the best we can for them. Its definitely an impossible feeling to describe having a group of people who know your music as well as you do. And then seeing them come to shows and go mental along with you is just heart warming for us!

What’s the music scene like in Bristol?

Bristol has one of the strongest local scenes in the country in my opinion. it holds so much talent in such a small area its incredible what you can find. There’s so many venues that constantly have shows on and theres plenty of bands of all different genres constantly dropping bangers. on top of that the people in bristol are lovely, they’re always up for a show and we never have any trouble getting people down to watch.

If you could work with any band on a song, who would it be and why?

Trying to name just one band is almost impossible for us haha. we all have such varied music tastes that it would be difficult to single out one band. i think if it was going to come down to it A Day To Remember have always been massive inspiration to us and our music so it would probably be either them or Blink 182.

What has been your proudest moment to date?

Again this is such a hard question for us, we have so many memories which we will never forget. If we are going with anything then we definitely think our Headline show for “The Things Ive Seen” EP Release is up there. that was a packed out show with a really good vibe! and everyone came down to see our band and the supports tear the place apart. start to finish that show was crazy and it will always go down as one of our favourite shows. Hopefully the “HOPE” EP release show will be even bigger!
