The Shimmer Band Hurtle Into 2017 With New Single

Hotly tipped Bristol newcomers The Shimmer Band come flying out of the traps into 2017 with their unequivocally potent new single JACKNIFE AND THE DEATH CALL, out January 20th on Komplex Recordings.
Debuted on 6Music this week, the track is rooted in the belief of the healing power of rock ‘n’ roll and comes hot on the heels of their previous critically acclaimed singles, SHOOT ME (BABY), FREEDOM, and SUNKICK, ramping their already enormous soundworld up yet another gear with this David Francolini production. Muscular, smashing drums and a thunderous bass are shot through with lightning-bolt synthesiser hooks and guitars that shift from unhinged punk rock attitude to Dr Dre inspired hip hop motifs, all crowned with Tom Newman’s astonishing vocal performance to deliver their deftly visceral lyrics.

The accompanying video was conceived by the band and filmed by Sam Morgan Moore of Framedogs in the basement crypt of St Emmanuel’s Church, Bristol – the spot where the secretive Cremolla Coven mysteriously spontaneously combusted during a Bacchanalian invocation ceremony in 1642 AD, burning much of the original structure to the ground.

With support under their belts from the likes of BBC 6 Music, Huw Stevens, Clash, Music Week, Gigwise, and the unparalleled new music champions This Feeling, The Shimmer Band are heading for the ionosphere this year.

The band follow up last year’s massive autumn UK headline tour with the main support slot for fellow explosive trailblazers Cabbage on their live dates in February, including what will be an unforgettable night at The Lexington on February 2nd.  They also play a special warm up show ahead of the tour, headlining the This Feeling Big in 2017 night at Nambucca on Saturday 14th January. Miss these shows at your peril!
