Prepare yourself, because what lies below is the first announcement for Reading and Leeds Festivals 2017 with 11 names just announced.
First up it’s the first headliner, and Reading couldn’t be more excited to be welcoming them back, it’s Muse! Stadium rock royalty, Muse are one of the most influential and revered live bands of modern times. Led by Matt Bellamy, the trio have taken over some of the biggest stages around the world with their 22 years of anthems.
On returning to R&L, Muse commented on the official website and said: ‘We’re very excited to be playing Reading and Leeds again. More news about our plans for 2017 coming in the new year.’
The festivals next act are the number 1 smashing, dancehall-rejuvinating trio Major Lazer, who are playing R&L as a UK festival exclusive. Diplo, Killionaire and Walshy Fire have made too many bangers to mention them all, favourites include ‘Cold Water (ft Justin Bieber & MØ)’, ‘Light it Up (ft Nyla & Fuse ODG)’ and ‘Lean On (ft MØ & DJ Snake)’.
Their breakout album Bad Blood sold over 7 million copies, scooped up BRIT awards and catapulted this band into playlists, sold out tour venues and beyond. We’re of course referring to indie-pop legends Bastille. With latest LP ‘Wild World’ once again dominating the charts on both sides of the Atlantic, expect to witness a crowning moment as they make their return to R&L.
Next up it’s At The Drive-In who will bring their high-octane and powerful live show, returning to the festival after their sold out world tour in 2016. establishing an entire genre with with 2000 LP ‘Relationship of Command’, their unpredictable live show will remind you as to why they remain such an influential powerhouse in alternative music.
Having released one of the most critically revered hip hop records of the year, Danny Brown will be bringing his world renowned individuality to the stage. Throughout his musical career he’s remained daring and distinctive when delivering his personal message, resulting in an atmospheric and emotional performance that’s not to be missed.
It doesn’t stop there, Brighton’s own post-hardcare British band Architects return to R&L as yet another UK festival exclusive. Having recently headlined a mammoth evening at London’s Brixton Academy, fresh from the release of their acclaimed album ‘All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us’, expect all the feels for their live performance this summer.
This next band have had a phenomenal live year, selling out their entire UK, EU and US tours as well as amassing a casual 200 million+ Spotify streams. Truly one of the global breakthrough artists of 2016, Glass Animals are sure to put on an unmissable performance.
Also joining the line up is Canadian breakout hip-hop artist Tory Lanez who recently released his debut album I Told You. Coining his own personal style as ‘Swavey’, you’re sure to want to join his movement ‘Swave Nation’ after his upcoming festival performance.
Against The Current are sure to dominate their first ever R&L performance with tracks from their debut album ‘In Our Bones’. They’ll be joined on the bill by drum and bass icon Andy C, whose career has seen him headline some of the biggest stages and moments in the genre’s history. Equally as momentous will be the return of While She Sleeps, British metalcore’s undeniable DIY heroes who’ll be back in 2017 with their anticipated third album You Are We.
