Following their wildly successful EP, Breaking Out, which debuted on Billboard’s Heatseeker chart, UK trio RavenEye are set to release their first album – NOVA– worldwide on September 23rd via their new label, Frontiers Music Srl. Since forming in 2014, RavenEye has toured globally, supporting Slash, The Darkness? and Halestorm amongst others. The band has headlined their own tours through Europe and America as well as performing at major international rock festivals such as Download Festival (UK), Hellfest Open Air Festival (France), Azkena Rock Festival ARF (Spain), Rock For People (Czech Republic) and many more! When the band first formed two years ago, the then 25 year old, Oli Brown, singer and multi-award winning guitarist, had already released four solo albums and toured the world for 10 years with legends such as Jeff Beck?, Buddy Guy, Johnny Winter? and Joe Satriani. You can check out their single Hero from the upcoming EP below!
We managed to catch up with the band about the upcoming album, new tour, fans and more!
How proud are you of your debut album Nova?
It’s our proudest moment! The trails and emotions that went into writing and recording this album, were so happy with how the album turned out and also stoked with how the album has been received. I guess we’re glad to hear that our vision was worthy.
Is it any different to any of your other releases?
NOVA has been great because it’s an accumulation of over 2 years of touring the EP, developing a live sound and writing collaboratively on the songs that will shape the next 2 years of our careers. In many senses, this album has been completely different from previous releases but in a great way, and the ride has been incredible!
How pumped are you guys for album release tour?
We love touring, we love getting out there and performing, we love hanging with old fans and making new ones; we live for the road! To finally have an album to tour is really exciting, we can’t wait to shape the show with the new material and bring the RavenEye energy to audiences all over. We can’t wait!
Are you looking forward to playing alongside Zodiac for the European tour?
Of course! We’re stoked to be given a great opportunity to tour in Europe and make our first real run in Germany, and the bill is awesome alongside Honeymoon disease and Zodiac, so we’re really looking forward to the shows and to meet the guys.
Do you find it tough having an independent record label?
Not at all. Before we had no record label, so any help is amazing and we probably work harder now than we did before so that we earn the help we now have. Signing to a label was never a major goal for us, we’ve worked so hard growing organically through fan engagement and hard touring, so we’re happy going it alone. But Frontiers Music were awesome and understand our DIY approach and have enabled us to maintain our control of our everyday lives and even the music, so it’s a perfect partnership really.
How much do your fans mean to you guys?
Fans are EVERYTHING! Without them, we have nobody to play to haha! We work hard to reply to all our fans that reach out to us on social media, we stay and chat with everyone at gigs until we get kicked out by security, we’ve played in our fans living rooms, we’ve stayed in their homes when on tour – we’ve always been about our fans and always will be!
What been the band’s most proudest moment so far?
We’ve been incredibly lucky in the 2 years the band has been around, Slash, The Darkness, Deep Purple, HaleStorm, USA tours, European tours and now NOVA, we count our lucky stars everyday. Our proudest moment was probably after our first festival gig. We had to time to sit with a glass of wine and almost glimpse the future what could be. Since then it has been a whirlwind!
