After VISTA released their EP Versus, in May, the lineup began to undergo a revamp, leaving lead vocalist Hope Vista the only sole original member left. VISTA had received a great amount of buzz including a small feature in the world renown magazine Rock Sound, but no interviews or features have been done since the announce of a lineup revamp. This week the band announced two new additions in Greg and Matthew as they plan to release a new single by the end of the year under the new format. Here’s what you can expect from VISTA with the band’s latest EP under the old line up.

We managed to catch up with the band as they talked about the new line up, new music, shows and more!

So introduce yourselves, what is the background of the new line up?
Hope: I’m Hope! I’m the lead vocalist and key songwriter, I also play guitar live occasionally and am the sole remaining original member of VISTA.
Matt: Hi! I’m Matthew. I play drums for VISTA.
Greg: Hi! I’m Greg. I’ve been playing music for many years, mostly with another band called Here’s To You. My musical background is all over the place though. I love almost everything.

Will the music be any different now?
VISTA: We’re stlll an anthem rock band. Now we’ll just have two new sets of creative ideas thrown in!

Would you see this as a fresh start for the band?
Hope: It’s definitely a fresh start, but I also see it as picking up where we left off. We had some great momentum building up in the Spring, and I’m excited to pick up right there and see what this trio can do with that momentum!
Matt: I do! In a way it’s kind of starting as a brand new band since the original drummer left before the EP was released. No one has seen VISTA live, till now.
Greg: Fa’sho. I think there’s a stronger foundation now, before there were a few red flags, but now the goal(s) and communication is clear between us 3.

Is there any new music on the way, if so when?
VISTA: We just started writing some new material, and we hope to get at least one new single out before 2016 is over. We don’t have an exact timeline set up yet for that, but we were demo’ing out a track this week and once things get a bit more solid in practice, we’ll hopefully get into the studio and get this new single out there.

What shows are you playing in October?
VISTA: Right now, we’ve announced 10/20 at Revolution on Long Island, NY, and 10/22 in Westport, CT. Both of those shows are with our friends in The Weekend Riot. We do have a bunch more shows that we haven’t announced yet; we’re just waiting on confirmation for those! As soon as we get the okay, we’ll roll those announcements out there.

If you could work with any artist/band, who would it be and why?
Hope: I’d love to collab with Cody Carson of Set It Off! Or Lady Gaga.
Matt: I would love to work with Tom Delonge. I have admired him for his ambitious projects; from music to books to his movies & companies. We have a lot of similarities when it comes to sci-fi & music.
Greg: Carly Rae Jepsen, The Fall of Troy, Jack White, a million others.

How much does it mean to you with fans supporting you guys?
Matt: Without the fans, we’d be nothing. Period. I’m very flattered at how responsive & supportive the fans have embraced Greg & me into the VISTA family. I’m looking forward to meeting each & every one of them when VISTA hits the road!
Greg: The world. It’s the only reason any of us can do this!

What are the band’s ambitions for the future?
Hope: We were actually just talking about this the other day, Greg had asked in our group chat what our individual goals for the band are! A second EP and eventual LP are definitely on my mind, a full US tour, I have some press outlets in mind that I really hope to get us featured in, and I’m dying to break into both the European and Asian touring markets when the time comes!
Matt: Writing & touring. We’ve been working on some new ideas. I’m equally as excited to explore the country/world with Hope & Greg.
Greg: Tourtourtour. Shows. Definitely more music to reflect the new lineup. I wanna be out there enjoying music and life!
