Joyce Manor have shared Last You Heard of Me, the latest single from their upcoming fourth album Cody (out October 7th). Produced by Rob Schnapf (Elliott Smith, Guided by Voices, Kurt Vile), Cody is Joyce Manor’s most intimate and unapologetically human album yet.
On Last You Heard of Me the California-based band channel their unsparing honesty into a flash-snapshot of a night outside a Portland bar, perfectly capturing the uneasy melancholy of feeling alone in a crowd. You can check out the single below!
The follow-up to their critically lauded 2014 Epitaph debut Never Hungover Again, Cody finds vocalist/guitarist Barry Johnson, guitarist Chase Knobbe, drummer Jeff Enzor, and bassist Matt Ebert crafting more inventive arrangements while taking greater emotional risks in their songwriting.
In comparing Cody to Joyce Manor’s previous work, Johnson notes that the album is “way more tender. A lot more love songs. Softer, sweeter—even sonically.” The result is a record both powerful and intensely vulnerable, full of loud sing-along songs for quiet people.
Pre-orders for Cody are available now!.
