Preview: Bestival 2016

Bestival 2

As the summer is close to it’s end and festivals around the country are slowly beginning to fade out, there is still one major event yet to happen and that is Bestival! The four day music event is set to have some of the finest musicians and bands from around the world to travel to Isle of Wight for what promises to be one of the highlights of the year. With no main stage on the Thursday, it should give fans a chance to check out some music that they’d not necessarily watch normally. Indietronica band Hot Chip will be headlining The Big Top Stage as they look to bring of their big hits such as Need You Now. You’ll see the likes of indie rock band Glass Animals performing on the stage that should really get the festival atmosphere going. Another band to look out for on the Thursday is All This Noise who will be playing on the Invaders of the Futures Stage.

Asylums will also be playing earlier on the Thursday as for me they would be the band to watch out for. They will sing catchy song such as Missing Persons and Necessary Appliances and really know how to put on a festival appearance. Looking ahead to Friday, you’ll see the likes of Reggie N Bollie, Aurora and the Cuban Brothers performing on the main stage as well as Years & Years. The exciting Damien Marley will also have a set who will perform before Skepta. Rapper Loyle Carner and Katie B will be among the names performing on The Big Top Stage on Friday however it is really the Invaders of the Future stage the place to be if you’re looking for rock. Southampton band Creeper will be performing for the first time since mysteriously being announced as missing. Lead singer Will Gould and the band will be playing songs from their latest EP The Stranger among other songs including from their The Callous Heart EP. Clean Cut Kid, who just released their new EP We Used To Be In Love will also be a band to watch on the Friday alongside The Sherlocks.

Saturday will see legends The Cure to headline the main stage as they look to bring such classics as The Lovecats in front of thousands of people like they have for most of their careers. Craig David’s TS5 and Lady Leshurr will also be performing on the main stage alongside the Chuckle Brothers and Mr Motivator which is set to be some great family entertainment. Wolf Alice will also be performing in the evening as they look to bring their big hits such as Bros and Blush. Electronic/Folk band Crystal Fighters will be headlining The Big Top Stage and they will be joined by the likes of Tourist. Kurupt FM will be bringing their DJ set on the Bollywood Stage as Festival creator Rob Da Bank will join SGT Pokes for a special set. Saturday is also a big day for Invaders of the Futures stage with Hopeless Records’ Milk Teeth performing alongside the beautiful four piece of Hinds who will set to get the party started.

Black Honey is also a band to look out on the evening as well as VANT. On the last day, Bastille will look to steal the show with their main stage performance as they look to perform songs from their new album Wild World, out this Friday (8th September). The likes of 70s band The Human League will be performing on The Big Top Stage with Rob Da Bank also putting another performance at the Spaceport Stage. Local Isle of Wight band Born in a Barn will playing at the Invaders of the Future as Pups will also be among the bands performing on the Sunday.
