British firebrand singer-songwriter Louise Distras will release her brand new single Aileen on the 30th of September 2016. The song will be Distras’ first new music since the release of her critically acclaimed 2013 debut album Dreams from the Factory Floor.

Seeing it’s been a while since her last release, this is really a solid come back for Louise, with a beautiful yet rock infused vocals that would sound great at any festival main stage. Lyrically, the song itself really hits home with some powerful words however the beat is so catchy and would appeal to a range of music lovers. Aileen is less than three minutes long however during that time, it certainly gives the listener a treat and make’s you wanting to hear more from the stunning singer. Distras cleverly sings some of the song effortlessly just speaking which really gives a good variety to the track and shows a different side of the singer. The song is about  how Distras watching a documentary about America’s first female serial killer, Aileen Wuornos. It hit Louise pretty hard as someone who has experienced homelessness and sexual assault, Aileen’s story and left her feeling inspired to share it through my music. This song has perfectly captured that inspiration, and deserves as much credit as possible when released.

Rating: 9/10
