Norfolk/Cambridge based emo punk quartet My Only are pleased to announce they have signed to Crooked Noise Records (Lock & Key, FOES, I Cried Wofl) and will be releasing their forthcoming debut EP This Room & You on 2nd September 2016. The band will be hitting the road in July with London emo power-pop trio Sad Blood on a short run of UK dates in support of the new material, full details below.

Commenting on the signing, label managed Tom Newman said: ‘It’s so rare that you get sent a band that are extremely talented, with a record ready to put out, but are very largely unheard of.

As soon as I heard My Only it was a no brainer, I had to work with this band. Not only that, they embody everything Crooked Noise is about, so it’s a perfect match!’

To celebrate the news, the band have revealed the video for ‘No World Without You’ which you can watch below

Commenting on the video, front man Jon Barnes said: ‘We wanted the setting to reflect what we all collectively value – simplicity, honesty and a sense of understatement.

‘The awkward framing of some of the shots was heavily inspired by the recent work of director Sam Esmail.

‘We really wanted to capture a visual tone in line with how we approached the EP, intimate yet unnerving.’

The thrashing intensity of My Only’s heavier moments is only cleverly revealed on the single in a controlled detonation after the softly spoken introduction: ‘I lie awake barely breathing, silent as you softly dream, and I’ve been thinking for a long while would it best if I leave? There’s not a welcome I haven’t outstayed, unrelenting love, and I haven’t slept in days.’

An emotionally driven, alternative band from the east of England, My Only describe themselves as a collective representation of each band member and their most basic of vulnerabilities, taking inspiration from their own flaws and life experiences. Heavily influenced by the music of their youth, they’re looking to reconnect with what they believe has been lost from much of modern alternative music. They don’t seek to follow trends, but to create music with purpose – if not for everyone, then at least for themselves. Wielding the sort of lo-fi, emo-laden punk hymns that have made household (or should we say darkened bedroom) names of Basement, Moose Blood, Brand New, this four piece are already punching a good deal above their weight with their powerful and emotionally charged take on the rapidly evolving English underground music scene.
