Rising Bristol-based alt/rock electro-punk newcomers COSMIC NINJA are pleased to reveal their latest single ‘By Design’.
The track is the latest to be taken from the band’s forthcoming new EP, Dissident Transmission, which will be released on 8th April 2022.
Lead single ‘Lies’ was released last month and picked up support from alternative tastemakers at Get In Her Ears, The Punk Site, Noizze, Maximum Volume and queer music archive BUOYGERHL.
A powerful polemic against the societal and political systems at play in the UK in 2022, the song highlights the pressure that Brexit has exerted on the country—something the band lambast as“a divisive tactic used by those seeking power to the benefit of a small few”, whilst ultimately dividing friendships, families and communities.
Commenting on the track, the band said: “‘By Design’ is based on the idea that the system and society we live in is fundamentally unfair and rigged in favour of the rich and powerful, who use their assets to further their own agenda. Everything is carefully designed to maintain the status quo, while the level of inequality in society is increasing. Our politicians can no longer be trusted to act in good faith, to abide by any sort of code or display reasonable conduct, and they are backed up by biased media that is largely complicit and owned by a powerful minority.”
“Many people are not given a chance in life through no fault of their own, and too many of those who have been dealt a good hand fail to see the pain and suffering of those that haven’t. The elite do not understand how the odds are stacked against others from the beginning. We are part of an archaic and carefully designed system that is fundamentally broken.”
Leading the charge into 2022 for politically-vocal alternative artists alongside the likes of Wargasm, Tokky Horror, Zand and CLT DRP, this proudly queer-fronted four-piece never fail to leave an impression with their forward-thinking fusion of rock, alternative and electronic sounds.
As an epic live act who recently won ‘Best Gig by a Local Band’ in The Bristol Gig Guide’s 2021 Music Awards, they’ve already brought their explosive party vibes and politically-charged tracks to socially-conscious audiences at Glastonbury Calling, All Out All Dayer, Unite Against Hate Festival, Bristol Pride, Rock Against Cancer, the BBC 6music Fringe Festival, and many more.
Further EP details and live dates TBA over the coming months.
