Blissfields took place last week weekend and once again it proved to be a great success with The Bizarre theme certainly living up to its name at Hampshire’s Vicarage Farm. Thousands of music lovers gathered for one weekend (6 – 8 July) of dance, variety and family entertainment.
The Home of the Unknown was a particular highlight of the weekend with lots going on including sock wrestling and provided an opportunity to see some of Edinburgh Fringes’ biggest names live. It had a really nice family vibe to it also as well has top class music from Thom Foole’s House Party.
The famous Blissoctheque created an amazing atmosphere throughout the festival had music playing all day long which was nice to see everyone enjoy themselves. The Bay also had the likes of Sean Brosnan and Musk Oxen other the Friday and Saturday that provided a real party environment throughout each night.
The Larch stage got underway on Friday and certainly one of the highlights was Dancehall who were very good managed to bring some rock into the festival. Gypsy Jukebox was another great band with plenty of potential and had a certain Ska sound to them.
Fil Bo Riva really seemed to enjoy his set on the Main Stage Friday as did the headliners Cinematic Orchestra. Despite them being the headliners, the night had only begun with the likes of silent disco and plenty of entertainment going on through the early hours.
Saturday saw Black Honey on the main stage and I have to say lead singer Izzy Baxter just gets better and better with her performances as they sung the likes of Hello Today and started to get the crowd going. Dub Pistols were the of the best acts on Saturday as Barry Ashworth’s band totally ruled the crowd with their set and was a perfect way to end the main stage music over the weekend. Metronomy headlined the Saturday as they played the likes of Back Together, Night Owl and headlined on Everything Goes My Way.
Other mentions include Lady Leshurr, Funke and The Two Tonne Baby, The Upbeats who all had really solid sets over on Saturday and overall left fans wanting more.
Overall Blissfields Festival done it again and it was a superb chilled weekend for all!
