Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter/pianist Maggie McClure has spent a good amount of her career placing her songs on TV shows such as Dr. Phil, Cougar Town, The Real World, The Vineyard, and The Hills, as well as in feature films like Cowgirls N’ Angels. Her smooth, confessional songwriting has made her a natural for these formats. Maggie has performed more than 1000 shows throughout her career in over 40+ states in the U.S. at iconic venues such as The Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles to Rockwood Music Hall in NYC, and everywhere in between. Her original piano-driven songs empower and inspire listeners with a positive message of hope, love, and faith. Maggie’s third and newest album, the 2014 release Time Moves On produced by Justin Glasco, whose work includes Dan Wilson (songwriter of Adele’s hit Someone Like You), Gary Jules, Tyler Hilton, and Cary Brothers – chronicles her move from Oklahoma to L.A. and centres on the mental and physical bravery it takes to push yourself in an unknown city and make people pay attention and convince them to be part of your dream. The singer recently released a Christmas song with her husband Shane Henry titled Christmas Time Again. Now Maggie has released Be Right Here For You, which you can listen to below!
We managed to catch up with Maggie as she talked about her new song, new music, first ever gig and more!
How has the release of Be Right Here For You gone so far?
The release for “Be Right Here For You” has gone really well so far! It’s great that people are responding so well to it.
Tell us a little bit about the song.
The song is all about being there for the people you love. I co-wrote it with Shane Henry and Stephen Gause (who also produced the track). We had such a great time writing and recording this song in Nashville.
How did you react to the news that your song will be featured in the upcoming feature film ‘A Cowgirl’s Story’?
I was thrilled when I found out “Be Right Here For You” will be featured in ‘A Cowgirl’s Story’!
Will you be looking to release a music video for the song?
I would love to film a music video for the song!
How was it working with Dan Wilson on your 2014 album Time Moves On?
I specifically worked with Justin Glasco on my 2014 album ‘Time Moves On’. Justin has worked closely with Dan Wilson. I hope to also work directly with Dan in the near future.
So recently you did a Christmas song with your husband Shane Henry, would you want to work with him again?
Yes, Shane Henry and I love working on Christmas music together and plan on releasing more later this year!
Will there be another solo album out soon?
I’ve been writing and working in the studio on new music and hope to release a solo EP or album soon.
So you’re playing at The Hotel Cafe on 15th April, are you looking forward to this date?
I can’t wait to play at The Hotel Cafe in Hollywood on April 15th! It’s going to be a full band show and we’ll be playing “Be Right Here For You”, as well as some other new songs for the very first time live!
If you could work with any artist, other than Shane of course, on a new song who would it be and why?
I’d love the opportunity to collaborate with Paul McCartney.
What was your first ever gig that you went to?
The first concert I ever attended was Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith in my hometown of Norman, Oklahoma when I was 8 years old. Amy Grant had a really big impact on me.
